Creative Strategy

Because Panasonic SoundSlayer is a soundbar, we were faced with creating content that spoke specifically to solo gamers who don’t need to rely on mic’d up headsets in order to communicate with other players. Additionally, we wanted to be sensitive to the gaming community—which, according to our research, has evolved considerably—to avoid stereotyping and alienating key members of our audience.

Considering Panasonic’s SoundSlayer offering was codeveloped by the Final Fantasy® XIV sound design team, the product was positioned as “for gamers, by gamers.” Because of this, we had two points of emphasis:

  1. Authenticity is key to gamers. We were careful to make sure we spoke their language.

  2. Gamers just want to have fun. It’s why they play games.
