Office and school supplies are a necessity that many people often overlook. But, not for Office Depot’s core consumer audience—Gear Lovers—who depend on them to accomplish greatness.

Undeniably, Gear Lovers gain a feeling of satisfaction when writing with a brand new pen or labeling a new set of notebooks.

In re-launching Office Depot’s digital presence, we attempted to hone in on this insight, bringing an element of fun to the brand’s content strategy in the process.

Role and Results

As the lead copywriter and social strategist on this account, I worked alongside talented art directors to conceptualize creative pieces of content for Instagram as part of Office Depot’s Gear Up for Great campaign. Our efforts resulted in:

  • 192% rise in Instagram followers

  • 65% increase in engagement rates

  • 75 average organic likes per post

We made office gear the heroes of Office Depot’s digital presence by playing with bold colors, clever compositions, and compelling copywriting. The goal was to bring an element of fun to social, turning seemingly ordinary office gear into the great gear heroes this audience views them to be.
